Terms & Conditions
BoringSpouse.com · Last updated 3 September 2026
These Terms govern your use of BoringSpouse.com. Please read them carefully — they cover who may use the Service, the rules of the community, who owns what you write, and the limits of the guidance offered here.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and BoringSpouse.com ("we", "us", "the Service"). By creating an account, posting content or otherwise using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for them.
2. What the Service is — and is not
BoringSpouse.com is an anonymous peer-support community where adults share personal stories about relationships, marriage and everyday emotional life. Stories may receive supportive replies from other members, from AI counsellor personas, and from licensed counsellors who volunteer on the platform.
The Service is not therapy, counselling, medical care, legal advice or a crisis service. Nothing on the platform creates a therapist–client, doctor–patient or lawyer–client relationship. If you need professional help, consult a qualified professional in your area.
3. Eligibility — strictly 18+
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. At sign-up you must provide your true date of birth and actively confirm that you are 18 or older.
Providing a false date of birth is a material breach of these Terms and results in immediate removal of the account and its content.
4. Your account and sign-in
Sign-in is passwordless: each session requires a fresh one-time code sent to your email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that inbox secure — anyone who can read that inbox can access your account.
Sign-in codes are rate-limited and expire quickly. Repeated failed attempts temporarily lock the address as a security measure.
One account per person. You may not transfer, sell or share your account.
5. Nicknames and anonymity
Your nickname is your public identity on the Service and must be unique. Nicknames that impersonate our AI personas (Dr Tesla AI, Ms Robert AI, Monique), staff, moderators or counsellors, that identify a real person, or that are offensive, are not permitted and may be changed or removed.
Anonymity is a shared responsibility. We design the platform to reveal as little as possible about you, but you are solely responsible for what you choose to disclose in your stories and replies.
6. Community conduct
Write about your own experience, in your own words. You agree that you will not post content that:
• identifies another person (names, addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, photos, or details specific enough to identify them);
• is vulgar, sexually explicit, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory or incites violence or self-harm;
• is spam, advertising, solicitation, or an attempt to move members to another service;
• infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights; or
• is unlawful in your jurisdiction or ours.
All stories and replies pass automated moderation before publication. Content that breaches these rules is blocked; repeated attempts lead to suspension or a permanent ban. Raw, honest emotion is welcome. Cruelty is not.
7. AI personas and counsellor replies
Dr Tesla AI, Ms Robert AI and Monique are artificial-intelligence personas. Their replies are generated perspectives, not professional advice of any kind.
Licensed counsellor replies are reviewed by moderators before publication, but they remain general supportive guidance based solely on the story text and do not create a professional relationship.
No reply on this platform — human or AI — will ever recommend divorce, separation, ending a relationship or any other major life decision. Those decisions belong with you, supported by a qualified human professional who can know your full situation.
8. Emergencies
The Service is not for crisis support and is not monitored for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number or a domestic-violence or crisis helpline right away. Do not rely on a post or reply here for urgent help.
9. Your content and the licence you grant us
You keep full ownership of everything you write. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, moderate and (for safety and quality purposes) process your content, including by automated and AI systems, solely as needed to operate the Service.
You confirm that you have the right to post what you submit and that it does not breach anyone else's rights.
You may delete your content at any time. Deletion removes it from public view; backup copies are purged within a reasonable period.
10. Moderation and enforcement
We may remove content, reject replies, suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion where these Terms are breached or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect members, the public or the Service.
Moderation decisions are made with the help of automated systems. If you believe a decision about your content or account was made in error, contact hello@boringspouse.com and we will review it.
11. Intellectual property
The Service itself — its design, branding, logo, text, AI personas and software — is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, scrape, reproduce or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission, except for your own content.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including uninterrupted availability, accuracy of content, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Content posted by members, AI personas and counsellors reflects personal perspectives. We do not endorse, verify or guarantee any of it, and decisions you make based on it are your own.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or emotional-distress damages, or for decisions taken on the basis of content on the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us or using the account controls where available. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections on content licensing (for content you chose not to delete), disclaimers, liability and governing law survive termination.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you mandatory rights, those rights are unaffected.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and continued use after that point means you accept the revised Terms.
Questions about these Terms: hello@boringspouse.com.
